Hello, my name is JoanTaylor. I am a fourth grade teacher at Fruitdale High School. Our school has students from Kindergarten through 12th grade on campus. We are a very small school with about 490 students.
This past year I had 18 students. The last of January was a tragic time for our class.. We lost two of our students in a house fire. This was the first time such a terrible event happened in my 34 years of teaching.
We have two teachers in each elementary grade. I teach Reading, Math, and Alabama History.
I hope to retire from Fruitdale High School.

I really like your blog.
ReplyDeleteAh yes, retirement. I've retired from one profession and an counting the days till I can retire from my current one.
ReplyDeleteGood work!
ReplyDeleteOh, how nice. Our school has almost 800 students and ranges from K-5. Inner city and very difficult children. Many discipline problems and at least 6 classes per grade level. But.....I wouldn't have it any other way. To teach in that quiet little school would be too quiet for me. I guess I need the challenge. Of course, if it were a little calmer, I would not complain! :-)
ReplyDeleteGood luck at Fruitdale High this year.
ReplyDeleteI never knew these kids had as many problems and losses as they do. I'm so sorry to hear about the loss.
